Turnabot Planetary 12
12 mm All-Metal Planetary Gearmotors
Pre-order. Shipping late November 2025. Limited first run across all four sizes—expected to sell out.
They’re here! After years of pushing suppliers and breaking prototypes, we finally have what combat-robot builders have been asking for: 12 mm gearmotors with true all-metal planetary gearboxes—purpose-built for our weight classes and abuse cases. As far as we can tell, these are the only 12 mm, all-metal planetaries designed specifically for our market—and they’re as light as 13.8 g.
Pre-order now. Production is underway; arriving late November. The first run covers all four options in limited quantities and is expected to sell out before arrival.
Why a Planetary (not spur)?
-
Impact survival. Planetaries distribute load and shock through the carrier and ring, resisting the shaft bending and tooth shear that sideline spur boxes.
-
Significantly higher torque capacity. Multiple planet gears share the load—more push in the same 12 mm envelope.
-
Right-size output shaft, rock-solid wheel retention. 16 mm shaft with a machined retention notch—ships with an included circlip (compatible with other retention hardware). Massively improved wheel retention under weapon hits and wall slams.

The Planetary 12 lineup (4 options)
Pick the speed/weight profile that fits your drivetrain and battery:
-
N10 — Ultralight planetary that still takes a hit. (weight: 13.8 g)
- Up to two N10 motors per drive side using a Standard Malenki on 2S
- Up to two N10 motors per drive side using a Malenki HV on 3S
-
N20 — The most popular size, now with planetary strength. (15.2 g)
- One N20 motor per drive side using a Standard Malenki on 2S
- Up to two N20 motors per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S
- One N20 motor per drive side using a Malenki HV on 3S
-
N30 3S — Essentially the N20 in a N30 size, more thermal mass for more battle time, particularly on 3S. (17.8 g)
- One N20 motor per drive side using a Standard Malenki on 2S
- Up to two N20 motors per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S
- One N20 motor per drive side using a Malenki HV on 3S
-
N30 2S — The “monster” of the current offerings. Enormous torque and the associated current requirements. (17.8 g)
- Can use one N30 motor per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S
- For more motors and/or more voltage use a Scarab
